How to install WHM/cPanel on CentOS

To get CentOS ready for hosting you need to do a few things. First thing you are going to want to do is update the system. Use command

Code:
yum update

This could take a while and will prompt you to hit y to accept the downloads and then to import the pgp key for centos. This could take a while depending on the connection speed and how out of date the template is.
Once this is updated you can begin installing WHM/cPanel.

To do so you need to disable Network Manager from CentOS.

1.Type following cmd to Disable Network Manager:

Code:
systemctl stop NetworkManager.service

Code:
systemctl disable NetworkManager.service

2. Change directory to the network-scripts directory

Code:
cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/

3. Open the ifcfg-ens2 (or another file) file with text editor, for example nano text editor:

Code:
nano  ifcfg-ens2

and add the next values:

Code:
NM_CONTROLLED=no

Code:
ONBOOT=yes

4. Restart the network

After this you are ready to install WHM/cPanel

Install Perl by entering the following command:

Code:
yum –y install perl

Download and run the following WHM installation script:

Code:
cd /home

Code:
curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest

Code:
sh latest

This may take a while but once finished will give you the IP and port to browse to, to reach the WHM login. This will give you a 14 day trial and then will require you to buy a vps or dedicated license to continue using WHM/cPanel.

If you recieve an error and need to set your host name run the following

Step 1: Login to your VPS
Locate the IP address of your Encrypted Hosting VPS and login as the root user.

Step 2: Use the hostname utility
Change your hostname to a different name of your choosing. For example:
Code:
hostname server01

Step 3: Edit
Code:
/etc/hosts

Open the
Code:
/etc/hosts
 file with your favorite text editor. For example:
Code:
nano /etc/hosts

Change the first line and replace your old hostname with the new one. Save the file and exit the editor.
Step 4: Edit
Code:
/etc/sysconfig/network

This file also contains your hostname. Open the
Code:
/etc/sysconfig/network
 file with your favorite text editor.
Change
Code:
HOSTNAME=encrypted
 to your desired hostname. For example:
Code:
HOSTNAME=server01

Step 5: Check your hostname
Run the following command to check your new hostname:
Code:
hostname

The new hostname will be displayed in your ssh terminal.
